Ingenico’s omnichannel gateway – the first nexo-based payment platform in Italy – receives the Bancomat certification

With over 53 million PagoBancomat cards in circulation in Italy in 2018 performing more than 2 billion transactions, accepting these through the domestic network is crucial for merchants. Retailers adopting Ingenico’s payment gateway will be able to accept PagoBancomat cards, which represent 56% of all active Italian payment cards, in addition to international brands. Besides local acquiring, Axis will offer them the benefits of a nexo solution – i.e. a fully secured, future-proof payment platform, meeting international standards – and enable them to streamline their payment acceptance solution across their network, in Italy and abroad.

This important milestone for Ingenico’s omnichannel payment gateway illustrates Ingenico’s commitment to accompanying retailers, wherever they are, taking into account local specificities.

This achievement further demonstrates Ingenico Group’s determination to accept an ever-broader range of payment methods, be they domestic, alternative or international.  Thanks to the compliance with nexo protocols, retailers can now deploy the same solution in several countries and connect to international or local acquirers.’ said Stéphane Jacquis, Senior Vice-President, Product/Enterprise Retail at Ingenico Group. ‘Ingenico Group is the only nexo payment platform provider to achieve the Bancomat certification to date.’

We are proud of getting our Axis payment gateway Bancomat certified.’ explained Cristiano Viganò, Managing Director at Ingenico Italia. ‘Our payment gateway is the right solution for Italian retailers with ambitious growth targets in Italy and abroad. We are already working with several retailers to launch the solution in the first quarter 2019.’
